Our purpose is to meet the needs of people suffering from the disease of alcoholism and other drug addictions by providing a safe environment in which they can begin the recovery process.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Seeking staff members to provide supervision (including overnight stays) for the residents of our men's substance abuse recovery home.
This includes monitoring their daily activities, providing supervision, transportation, medication management, mentorship, and teaching 12 Step concepts and recovery skills.
Answers to the Director regarding any daily issues that arise.
Other duties may be assigned as necessary for the smooth operation of the program.
This job would require overnights, and training prior to beginning work.
WORK SCHEDULE:
The initial hours will be part-time or as-needed before training is completed.
Normal full-time position hours are 38- to 40-hour shifts over three or four days, including two or three unpaid overnight stays in the staff bedroom, with an additional hour for the staff meeting on Wednesday.
This position has a sleep time agreement that employees have 8 hours to sleep per designated shift while on duty; this time is not paid time.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED BY EMPLOYEE:
The employee will receive supervision from the Director.
The employee shall staff difficult situations with the Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The minimum education requirement for employment at REMMSCO is a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Must have a good driving record, valid license, insurance, and demonstrate safe driving skills, as you will be transporting residents to recovery meetings and other appointments in our van.
Must not have a DUI or DWI in the last four years (required by our insurance).
Employee must have knowledge of substance abuse.
Employee must retain knowledge of 12 Step programs and other community resources sufficient to serve as a resident mentor.
Employee must be able to go up and down steps and perform other physical duties as required.
Candidates will be trained in the following areas once hired:
NCI, CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration, bloodborne pathogens, signs and symptoms of withdrawal, client rights, and HIPAA.
Applicants who already hold certification in any of these areas will be given preference.
