The Supervisor Security is responsible for oversight of Security staff and operations at assigned location(s).
Supervises daily activities of Security Officers to preserve peace and order; prevent and detect crimes; protect persons and property; and perform duties relating to the welfare and safety of the employees, patients, visitors, and property of Cone Health.
Reports to Manager Security.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate to build and maintain department?s operational schedules.
Plan daily assignments and conduct daily briefing for security operations.
Assess shift personnel and equipment needs.
Monitor shift operations and work to resolve problems as they arise.
Delegate specific tasks to security officers and department personnel and inform the Manager Security regarding potential problems/issues and recommend possible solutions.
- Supervise, assign, and evaluate activities of shift personnel, ensuring adherence to department and Cone Health policies and procedures.
- Evaluate, counsel, and mentor shift personnel on job performance.
Conduct performance evaluations as required and mentor security officers to performance standards.
Monitor training progress of new security employees while recommending updates and implementing changes in training program.
Round with officers in field and at posts to foster positive collaboration and communication between supervisor and employee.
- Frequently oversee emergency situations as they arise, notifying and involving appropriate leaders throughout organization.
- Represent Security Services in daily Safety Huddles, meetings, and other outreaches as assigned.
- May be assigned to assist with staffing coverage as needed and complete special projects including assistance with security investigations.
- Support Manager Security and Security Services management team with assigned duties as requested and during major disasters, drills, and emergency situations.
Provide appropriate internal and external disaster assistance according to hospital policy and procedures.
Understand Cone Health Security Management Plan and role of Security Services in plan administration.
- Complete assigned training or attain other specialized knowledge of access systems, camera systems, and communications systems.
Operate systems at a high level of proficiency that includes proper response to system compromise or failures.
- Monitor and direct employee performance in management of Security Services department email inbox.
- Participate and support hiring and onboarding of new employees.

High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred:
Associate or bachelor?s degree (Criminal Justice or Business-related field of study preferred)
Experience:
Required:
Minimum 2 years practical experience working in security, military or related field Preferred:
2-5 years experience in health care security/supervision, military, police, or related field LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED Valid Drivers License BLS (CPR) AHA Health Care Provider or American Red Cross IAHSS Healthcare Security and Safety Officer certification.
Completion of all three levels (Basic, Advanced, and Supervisor) through IAHSS training program required within 1 year of hire.
ICS 700 and 800 Incident Structure Certificates required within 1 year of hire.
